All projects start off with a single sheet of paper. Where you go from there is what's important. Why? Because fundamentally ideas are cheap, what matters is the execution. At bedlam we understand that in order to execute your project effectively, we must understand the problem in which the idea will solve.
We work hard to help define the strategy of your product. Any consultancy can build an application based off a specification, but what if the specification is too limited? What if the specification is too broad? Finding the sweet spot sometimes takes more than just technology. A good example of this is the Urban Legend about the Russian Space program and the zero-g pen. The legend went that NASA spent millions developing a pen that could work in zero gravity. The Russians had the same requirement but instead used a pencil. Sadly this tale is not true, but the core of the story is so very valid.
our methodology
The key to our project methodology is flexibility. We can follow either a traditional waterfall approach, or we can use agile/RAD methods. Regardles of the methods used, we strive to follow the same basic framework:
Simply put, our approach stresses understanding the problem before writing a single line of code. While the features and functions can (and should) evolve, we always strive to understand the core of what we are delivering before we begin writing code.
